Singapore Circle Lines 4 & 5

Ground-borne noise and vibration effects have been predicted along the proposed Circle Line in Singapore in order to define the vibration isolation requirements.

Singapore's Mass Rapid Transit System is currently being expanded with the construction of the new Circle Line, which is an orbital line linking the existing radial lines.

Due to the scale of the project, the line has been divided into five stages, with the construction of the initial stages already underway. Stages 4 and 5 are being designed and documented by Parsons Brinkerhoff Pte Ltd, with Heggies carrying out specialist studies in relation to ground-borne noise and vibration.

These studies have included a detailed programme of vibration measurements in and around the existing railway tunnels and prediction of noise and vibration in over 500 buildings adjacent to the proposed Circle Line including residential and commercial buildings, some with particular sensitivity to vibration.

On the basis of these studies, the requirements for vibration isolation have been defined along the proposed route and the acceptable trackforms have been determined.
