Background

Brenda Walls is a senior Environmental Scientist and is currently the Townsville Office Manager for Heggies.

After graduating from Monash University with a Bachelor of Applied Science (Hons) in 1998, Brenda became a commissioning Chemist and Environmental Manager for various clients including; Power Stations, Mines and other heavy industrial clients.

Through this work and subsequent managerial roles, Brenda has amassed over ten years experience in the field of environmental science. Brenda has extensive project and contract management experience including; the preparation and technical review of environmental reports, Environmental Impact Statements (EIS's), Review of Environmental Factors (REF's) and Environmental Management Plans (EMP's).

Professional Experience

Environmental Air Quality

  • Preparation and submission of air dispersal modelling (Ausplume) of waste emissions to air in accordance with EPA requirements

 

Soil and Water Monitoring

  • Conducted site specific water balances for the optimisation of water usage and waste water usage
  • Strict monitoring of boiler water and stream quality during major project milestones eg first fires, steam blows and steam to heat
  • Recommendations for personnel re: health and safety in consideration of pathology of raw water (treated sewage)

 

Land Contamination and Acid Sulphate Soils

  • Preparation and submission of budgets, proposals and tenders for environmental and geotechnical projects
  • Resourcing of permits, staff and subcontractors
  • Conducting peer reviews of environmental reports for projects within Australia

 

Environmental Management

  • Supervising contaminated land including clean up and disposal of contaminated soil and water in accordance with legislative requirements
